Moab

Moab is known for its spectacular mountain biking and Jeep rock crawling. But it is also has numerous opportunities for rock climbers. There is more than a lifetime of climbing here.

Here you can find single pitch sport climbs, high quality boulder problems, desert spires, and multi-day endeavors. What ever your passion is, the Moab area has it. Pick your poison. The Moab area climbing is set in a pristine desert setting on gorgeous sandstone.

After a trip to Moab, why not top it off with a few days in Indian Creek. It’s a perfect complement to an already great trip.

Moab Information:

  • Where: Moab, Utah
  • Season: Spring and fall are the best seasons. Summers are a bit on the warms side and winters are a bit on the cold side.
  • Nearby large cities: Salt Lake City, UT – 4hrs, Denver, CO – 5hrs

Indian Creek

Indian Creek is the crack climbing capital of the world. The cracks here are long, splitter, and all sizes. The area is very expansive and routes number in the 1000’s.

A lot of the single pitch routes are a good 100 feet long. With the cracks maintaining a constant size, Indian Creek is the place to practice your crack climbing skills.

If you are looking for a bird’s eye view of the area, why not do a tower? Tall and beautiful is the name of the game here.

Bring the tape for your hands, comfy shoes for your feet, and leave the worries at home. This is a place you won’t soon forget.

  • Where: Indian Creek, Utah
  • Season: Fall and Spring are the best times of the year. It’s the desert so it can get cold at night and hot in the sun.
  • Nearby large cities: Moab, UT – 1 hr, Salt Lake City – 5 hrs.

Vedauwoo

Can you say offwidth? Vedauwoo is known for cracks that are larger than a fist but too small to fit your body in. Stacking, chicken wings, heel/toe, and arm barring is the main vocabulary of the Vedauwoo climber.

Don’t be fooled. Vedauwoo has other climbs that are friendlier than offwidths. The area has a ton of regular sized cracks, face climbs, and bouldering. The area is known to have some stiff ratings. It’s not uncommon to get on a 5.7 and have isolated moves of 5.9 on it. Let’s just say that it’s a humbling climbing experience.

But with short approaches, great history and not to mention the free camping, why pass this area up.

P.S.: Don’t forget the tape (lots of it), the carhartt jeans, and rugby shirt.

Vedauwoo Information:

  • Where: Vedauwoo, Wyoming
  • Season: Spring and fall are the best seasons. Summers can be a bit warm and winters are something you don’t want to experience.
  • Nearby large cities: Cheyenne, WY – 30mins, Denver, CO – 2 hrs.

Table/Golden Cliffs

Sitting above Golden is this south facing cliff band. Most routes are sport climbs that are about 60 feet. Top-roping is easy to do, with simple and quick access to the top.

If you are looking for a change of scenery, Golden Cliffs make a great destination. Not to mention the proximity to the Coors Brewery.

N. Table/Golden Cliffs Information:

  • Where: Golden, CO
  • Season: Late fall through early spring
  • Nearby large cities: Denver, CO – 25mins

Mt. Lincoln

This is a great ice climbing site that is easily accessible from the Front Range Cities. With a short approach and drive this area makes for a great day out when you have to get out of the office.

The area has dozens of possible variants, from half-pitch pillars to three pitches of fun. Give us a call and lets go swing some tools.

Vail

Vail may be the birthplace of modern mixed climbing in Colorado. The area holds many 1-2 pitch ice routes. It is north facing, so make sure to bring the down jacket. It is easily visible from the road.

No matter what you are looking for, mixed or water-ice, the Vail area has it for you. Come and climb in the beautiful winter wonderland.
