Argentina is the second largest country in South America and the eighth largest in the world. It lies between the southern Atlantic Ocean in the east and south and the Andes mountain range to the west. At 22,835’ above sea level—just under 7,000 meters—Argentina’s Aconcagua rises higher than any peak outside the Himalaya. We ascend this great mountain via the Falso de los Polacos route, which begins on the more remote Polish Glacier and connects with the Ruta Normal on summit day.
