Certified Rock, Alpine, and Ski Mountaineering Guide – UIAGM/IFMGA Licensed Guide

Joe has been climbing and skiing around the world for 23 years. His highlights have been long alpine climbs in the Southern Alps of New Zealand, limestone rock climbing in Thailand, mixed climbs in Colorado and spring ski mountaineering in Alaska. He recently made the first 180-mile ski traverse of the Chugach Mountains from Anchorage to Valdez and the 100-mile full-length traverse of the Neacola Mountains. Joe has an undergraduate degree in geology and geography from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and a graduate degree from CSU in Fort Collins, Colorado. Joe became certified by the American Mountain Guides Association in the alpine guide discipline in 2003, ski mountaineering guide discipline in 2008 and rock guide discipline in 2009. In addition to guiding, Joe works as a writer, photographer and hydrologist. He lives in Anchorage with his wife Cathy.
